Job description

Join Project Eaden as Fabrication Technician

Climate change is accelerating, with meat production as a major driver. Yet billions of people love eating meat, and global consumption continues to rise. At Project Eaden, we believe the solution lies in creating a new generation of delicious, animal-free meat that billions can enjoy, helping to save the planet in the process.

If you have hands-on fabrication experience and are passionate about building innovative machinery, this is your chance to apply your technical skills to the fabrication of revolutionary plant-based food processing equipment. Join us now as we scale operations in a fast-growing, purpose-driven startup.

In this role, you’ll support our mechanical engineering team in fabricating, assembling, and modifying food processing machinery. You'll work closely with our engineers to build custom equipment, prototypes, and components that power our innovative plant-based meat production.

This is more than a jo, it’s an opportunity to turn ideas into action and help tackle one of the planet’s most pressing challenges. Let’s build a sustainable future together.

🛠 Key responsibilities

  • Machinery Fabrication: Fabricate and assemble mechanical components and equipment for plant-based food processing according to engineering drawings and specifications. Use various fabrication techniques, including welding, machining, and assembly, to build custom equipment.

  • Prototype Development: Support mechanical engineers in building and testing prototypes of new food processing concepts. Fabricate prototype components, assist with validation testing, and implement design modifications based on engineering feedback.

  • Equipment Assembly: Assemble mechanical systems including mixers, conveyors, forming machines, and packaging equipment. Install components, connect systems, and ensure proper alignment and functionality.

  • Production Line Maintenance: Perform mechanical maintenance on production lines according to established plans and schedules. Conduct preventive maintenance, troubleshoot issues, and ensure optimal equipment performance.

  • Welding & Joining: Perform welding operations using stainless steel and other food-grade materials. Ensure welds meet food safety and equipment standards.

  • Equipment Modification: Modify existing equipment based on engineering specs and production needs. Retrofit machinery for new applications and implement improvements.

  • Workshop Maintenance: Maintain fabrication tools, equipment, and the workspace in safe and functional condition. Perform routine maintenance on machines and uphold workshop safety protocols.

🧠 Requirements

  • Professional Experience: 3–5 years of experience in fabrication, machining, or mechanical assembly—ideally in food processing equipment, manufacturing, or related industries. Experience in custom equipment fabrication is preferred.

  • Educational Background: Technical school diploma, completed apprenticeship, or equivalent experience in mechanical fabrication, machining, or a related technical field. Welding certification is a plus.

  • Valid Driver’s Licence: Must be able to drive rental vehicles occasionally to transport materials and equipment.

  • Technical Skills:

    • Proficiency in fabrication techniques, especially TIG welding

    • Basic operation of milling machines and lathes

    • Familiarity with common workshop tools: drills, angle grinders, linishers, band saws, etc.

    • Ability to read and interpret technical engineering drawings

    • Basic knowledge of SolidWorks or Fusion 360 (a plus, but not required)

  • Safety & Compliance: Understanding of workshop safety and hygiene practices in food-grade environments.

  • Problem-Solving Skills: Strong practical problem-solving abilities and hands-on troubleshooting. Ability to collaborate with engineers to resolve fabrication challenges.

  • Communication Skills: Good verbal communication for collaborating with engineers and team members. Ability to follow and provide feedback on technical instructions.

  • Language Proficiency: Basic German required for safety communication and instruction. English is beneficial for technical documentation.

💌 Why you should apply now

  • Scaling Big: We’re at an exciting inflection point, transitioning from a pilot phase to scaling operations. Be part of something transformative and build it from the ground up.

  • Top-Tier Backing: We’re supported by world-class VCs and angels who share our vision and believe in our mission.

  • The Time is Now: Food needs a massive transformation. Join us in creating irresistible, sustainable food that inspires billions to switch away from animal-based meat, fast!

🦄 A word on Diversity, Equity & Inclusion

We embrace diversity and equal opportunities for all. Shared values and alignment with Project Eaden’s purpose matter most to us. We welcome applications from all qualified candidates, regardless of age, color, national origin, race, religion, gender, sexual orientation, gender identity, or marital status.

🏯 Workspace and culture

We’re building something massive—a gentle giant in the food industry. Our team thrives on collaboration, and we believe in the power of face-to-face communication to move fast and work effectively. Currently, we spend most of our time together at our workplace in Berlin to nurture our team spirit and culture.
